Emily & Alex

Emily and Alex first met around their junior year of high school. They did not attend the same high school, but they did have a mutual friend. During college they were on a co-ed softball team. Alex played 1st base and Emily played 2nd base. Alex asked Emily to go to dinner with him after one of their games and the rest is history!

The Proposal

Alex and Emily took a trip to Daytona Florida with their friends Nick and Alyssa. Emily did not expect Alex to propose! When they had talked about getting engaged, Emily told Alex she did not want cameras and people following them knowing it was going to happen. Emily had always pictured it would be just the two of them. While they were in Florida, they had very cold, windy weather. There was one day where the sun came out and it was warm enough to walk the beach. They took a walk and Alex proposed on the beach – since it was January and it was a cold week it ended up being just the two of them on the beach.

The Day & Design

Emily and Alex described their wedding style a mix between rustic, romantic and classic. They loved the Union Pavilion for its open layout and the ability to have the doors open! Something unique about their wedding day was that they were blessed with toasts from multiple members of their bridal party – their party consisted of friends and family who have seen our relationship grow over the past couple of years. Also the bride’s father cut the wood centerpieces that were used to decorate the tables.

The Couple’s Advice

ENJOY the planning process! The day truly goes fast, but there are so many opportunities to pause and take it all in! Include details that embody your relationship. Work as a team to plan – being organized will help you not rush into decisions. Talk to other married couples, we chatted with all our friends who were recently married and were given recommendations on vendors that they loved!
