Kellyn and Brad
Kellyn and Brad first met in January 2011 at the Visser Family YMCA, where they both worked. The active duo got to know each other quite quickly, became good friends, and eventually fell in love when they traveled to Scottsdale for a family member’s wedding.
“Brad and I spent two days turning a scrap metal junk yard into an ideal wedding location,” recalls Kellyn. “That wedding turned out to be gorgeous and that night on the dance floor, I first fell in love with him.”
The Proposal
Brad and Kellyn lived together for two years before deciding to buy a place of their own. They started looking, found the house, and began the paperwork to make it theirs. On signing day, after all the paperwork was completed, Brad and Kellyn went to their new home to see their new space. They walked through the empty house before making their way to the back deck. The next thing Kellyn saw was Brad, on one knee, asking her to marry him. Their first memory in the new house is now their engagement.
The Day & Design
Kellyn wanted her outdoor wedding reception to be shabby chic and vintage. She made all the decorations from scratch (thank you, Pinterest!). The arbor she created featured a chandelier that dazzled with pearls and crystals. Her dress was a light gold with ivory lace. Both worked perfectly with her theme and decorations.
The Couple’s Advice
There’s a lot that goes into a wedding in the weeks and months before the big day. But enjoy that day! Don’t let anything take away the joy. Don’t stress about colors. Make it easy on yourself. It’ll all tie together in the end. And don’t show your father or your groom your wedding dress. The look on their faces will be priceless and it will mean so much to see their reactions.
