Laura & Joseph

Laura and Joseph met in the summer of 2017 and Laura knew on their first date that there was no one else for her. She knew he was the one when Joseph played a Chris Stapleton song in the car on their second date. She had just posted about love a certain Stapleton song and knew that he was paying attention.

Laura loves Joseph’s selfless and caring nature. They are most looking forward to creating amazing memories and a family together as best friends.

The Proposal

Laura and Joseph took a quick weekend trip to Mackinac Island. It was a 90 degree day and they decided to bike to the highest point of the island (Fort Holmes). At this point Laura was pretty aware what was going to happen but just didn’t know the exact moment. They had stopped at a couple spots along the way where she thought he was going to pop the question. Then she turned around and saw him kneel down and pull a tube sock, with something bulky at the bottom of it, out of the hiking bag. Then, after some struggle, he got the ring box out of the sock and asked the big question.

The Day & Design

Timeless, elegant, and classic. A few unique details about the wedding day are that all of the brass candlesticks used as centerpieces were thrifted from stores all around West Michigan. They also had a photo of Laura’s late grandmother displayed; even though she couldn’t join them in person, she was celebrating with them in spirit.

The Couple’s Advice

Their advice would be that this is your special day, don’t let anyone else try and tell you how it should be. Even if something seems untraditional, it should be your vision and your dream. Don’t let anyone take that away from you. And make sure to stay by your partner’s side on the day of the wedding/reception. This day is about celebrating the two of you and you should be experiencing any and all events together.
