Lauren & Ben

Lauren and Ben first met their junior year of high school. They both took time apart in the beginning years of college and then came back together. Once they started our relationship again, Lauren knew this love was something more than their high school love. When they came back into each other’s lives they knew that God had brought them together for a reason. They are looking forward to a long life of happiness and love together.

The Proposal

Lauren will tell you that their engagement story is not anything special or crazy. The two went out to dinner in downtown Grand Rapids. Afterwards, Ben wanted to walk around downtown to look at some statues/lights. Lauren was not feeling well after dinner and insisted they go back home. Ben was very persistent and wanted to see if the feeling would pass and if he could to be able to go see the lights. On the drive back home Lauren realized how quiet and deflated Ben seemed, so she kept apologizing saying that they could do it another night. Once they arrived to their driveway Ben stopped and said he had to grab the mail, but asked Lauren to jump out and grab it. That was when she knew something more was going on. Ben then proposed right there at the end of the driveway in front of the mailbox. As they drove up the driveway Ben told her that he had planned for an engagement celebration and that he was worried everyone was going to be in the house, so he didn’t seem to have a choice but to still do it that night. Lauren wouldn’t change a thing, after all she was able to marry the love of her life.

The Day & Design

Their wedding style was classic and traditional. Nothing crazy and nothing in particular, just classic, elegant and traditional. A few details included a loved one’s table where they had photos printed and candles burning in honor of those who could not be with them. Their ceremony was held at the same church that Lauren’s parents & aunts and uncles were married in. They also had Ben’s family dog, Timber, come down the aisle.

The Couple’s Advice

My advice, even though everyone says it, do not blink. It truly is the most wonderful day and it goes by so quickly. Enjoy the day and don’t fret about small details or everything being perfect, it’s meant to celebrate you and your future spouse.
