Sheldon & Jared
Sheldon and Jared met in December 2019 through a mutual friend after Sheldon followed Jared on Instagram because she had a little crush on him! Sheldon first fell in love with Jared during COVID when they spent a ton of time together and with family. They both knew early into the relationship that they wanted to marry each other. Sheldon remembers looking at him the first time she met him and knowing he was something special.
Sheldon loves how supportive and encourage Jared is and also his bad jokes that she keeps finding funnier everyday. Jared loves the way Sheldon loves him. They are most looking forward to growing older and experiencing life together – buying their first home, having kids.
The Proposal
Jared and Sheldon had plans to see the new Spiderman movie, so they made a day out of it and went out for a fancy lunch downtown Holland. They did some Christmas shopping afterward in some shops (also what they did on their first date). He made up an excuse for why they had to leave kind of in a rush, and on their way home his mom called and told them to meet her at Riley Trails. Sheldon thought nothing of it, but as they were entering the trail head to go find his mom, Jared stopped Sheldon on the bridge and asked her to marry him! He had a photographer come and snap some photos.
The Day & Design
Sheldon and Jared describe their wedding style as classy and super simple. They really valued spending time with their guests and making sure guests felt cared for and had things to do. A few unique details about their wedding included that Jared’s dad married them, which was super special. They also had someone sing during communion and spent some time in worship at the beginning of their ceremony. Sheldon’s younger sister and her did a surprise choreographed dance to Timber by Pitbull and Kesha which was one of the best parts of their day!
The Couple’s Advice
Sheldon: Do what you want – people will have opinions but stay true to what feels like you! Ditch any traditions you don’t like or agree with. Also, keep in mind your guests’ experience. Guests get antsy, so keep your timeline moving and incorporate guests when and where you can. It’ll be super fun for everyone if you get people involved. Jared: Don’t stress. Be intentional ahead of time but also know that the details of the way won’t make/break the day.
